It is Friday, so that means it is time for another Staff Feature Friday Spotlight! Today we recognize one of our 2nd Grade Teachers at Wapello Elementary, Mrs. Judy Gerst.
Mrs. Gerst has been in the education field for thirty years. All thirty years have been spent right here at Wapello Elementary.
Mrs. Gerst graduated from Muscatine Community College with her Associate of Arts degree and then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Iowa Wesleyan College.
Her family includes her husband Kirk, along with her daughters Kiley (Ryan) Murguia and Sara (Eric) Brown. She also has three grandchildren, Kristina, Brooklyn, and Kyler.
In her spare time, you will find Mrs. Wagner spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys biking, camping, following the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs!
Our last question for Mrs. Gerst was, what do you like best about working at the Wapello Community School District? Her response was, "I grew up in Wapello and went to school here. I love that I am able to teach where I attended school. Our population is small enough that everyone knows everyone, and there are plenty of hugs to go around! We have the best students and staff around!!"
