2021 Senior Spotlight: Our final Senior Spotlight goes to Grace Ann Ealey. She is the daughter of Darrin and Kristene Ealey. Grace has been very active while in high school, participating in NHS for two years, Track for three, and Volleyball for four years. After graduation, Grace plans to attend MCC to pursue a degree as a Veterinarian Technician. The teacher who has influenced Grace the most is Mrs. Marshall, because “she always has a positive attitude. The way she teaches makes math really easy to learn and she is always willing to help. Also, she never leaves anyone behind and makes sure everyone has time to get their work in on time.” As for advice to underclassmen, Grace says “don’t procrastinate with college stuff because it makes it a lot harder in the long run.” Best of luck and congratulations to Grace on her upcoming graduation.

Thursday, May 20th the Boys Soccer team will start their bid for state when they travel to Mediapolis (to take on Mediapolis) for their substate game beginning at 6:30 pm. Spectators will need to purchase their tickets in advance (no cash at the door), through the IHSAA https://www.iahsaa.org/tickets/. This is the same process as we've done this winter and now for Track.

At noon today (Tues., May 18) tickets will go on sale through the IHSAA website using an online ticketing format. No code is required. You will still need to purchase tickets through the website as no cash will be accepted at the gate. https://www.iahsaa.org/tickets/
2021 Senior Spotlight: Our second Senior Spotlight is Kylie Rebecca Wilson. She is the daughter of Brock and Kim Wilson. While in school, Kylie has been active in Football Cheerleading, Volleyball and NHS for two years, and Basketball for three years. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of Iowa for business. The staff members who have had the greatest impact on Kylie are Mrs. Marshall and Ms. Philp. This is because “they were always willing to help me make sure that I was doing what I needed to succeed.” Her advice to underclassmen is “don’t stress about things that you can’t change.” Congratulations to Kylie as she prepares for her graduation.

After graduation she plans to begin working towards a Masters in Psychology at MCC, then transfer to a university. Danielle says the teachers who have influenced her the most while at Wapello is Mrs. Moulton and Mrs. Gerot, “They’re both really kind and were always there to listen and help me when I needed it.” Her advice to underclassmen is to “always work on any assignments during free time in class, you’ll never have to bring homework home with you.” Congratulations and best of luck to Danielle in the future.

2021 Senior Spotlight: Today’s final Senior Spotlight is Levi Leibli. He is the son of David Leibli. After graduation, Levi plans to get a full time job and move into his own small house. The teacher responsible for making an impact in Levi’s life is Mr. Marshall. This is because “[he] helped me keep my grades up and made me work hard.” Levi’s advice to underclassmen is “Good luck! [It’s] not easy but you will make it.” Congratulations and best wishes for the future to Levi!

2021 Senior Spotlight: Monday’s final Senior Spotlight goes to Hector Daniel Zepeda. He is the son of Miguel and Maira Zepeda. While in high school, Hector has been active in Student Council for one year, NHS for two, FCA for three years, and Football, Basketball, Soccer, and Track for four years. Hector plans to attend Southeastern Community College to play soccer but is undecided on a major, after graduation. The person who has influenced him the most while in school is Mrs. Aracely (Schlesing). This is because “...she's been with me since I first came to Wapello in 2nd grade from Mexico. Throughout those years she has mentored me in learning English, always believing and never giving up on me. She was always hard on me, teaching me discipline and responsibility when it comes to academics, always telling me to do my assignments and turn them in on time and I appreciate her for that.” Hector’s advice for underclassmen is “Don't take anything in this life for granted for it is temporary. Enjoy every moment. Also, treat your teachers like you treat your parents. Be kind and spread love.” Best of luck and congratulations to Hector as he prepares to graduate from WHS.
