Dear, Parents/Guardians of WJHS and WHS, Wapello Community Schools are reaching out to you today to inform you of the loss of Natalie McCleary, a student at Louisa Muscatine, a neighboring school. Our thoughts and hearts are with the community as they navigate this tragedy. On Thursday, December 8, Mr. Peterson, Mr. Bohlen, and Ms. Eakins met with the students of Wapello Junior High School and Wapello High School to provide support, comfort, and information about common reactions following a death and how adults can help youths cope. Counseling services are available for any student who may need or want any type of help surrounding this loss. We encourage you, as parents and guardians, to contact Ms. Eakins if you feel your student needs support. The Wapello CSD food pantry will be open Thursday, December 8th from 3:45 - 5:00. We have milk as well as a variety of other dairy items. We ask that you remain in your car until your number is called and limit your shopping time to 10 minutes in order to help things go as smooth as possible.

Details of the position will be based on the individual felt to be most qualified. Brielle Beeding was our 1st grade “Star of the Week!” She did a wonderful job reading her book titled, “Weather.” She shared her special stuffed animal, a panda! It is so soft and gets to travel places to be right with her!

Kylah Rohr was our 1st grade “Star of the Week!” We enjoyed her reading the book, “Good Night Gorilla!” She also shared her special talent of dribbling 2 basketballs at the same time! We were all impressed and everyone wanted her to teach them how to do it at recess! To end her week, her mom joined her with a surprise lunch!
