It was an exciting moment for Wapello Middle School 6th grader Baylor Lanz when the moment she had been waiting many months for finally arrived. Baylor had submitted a poem for publication in the Young American Poetry Digest in the spring of last school school year (2033-2024), and received a letter saying her poem had been chosen for publication. The publishers promised to send a copy of the book for the Wapello Elementary School library, where Baylor was a 5th grade student at the time. The book was supposed to arrive in October, but it never came. Weeks turned into months of waiting, and finally Baylor's teacher reached out to the publisher who said the book had been shipped, but apparently was lost in transit. They promised to send another copy, and last week it finally came. What a special moment for Baylor to see her work in print at last! Congratulations, Baylor! We are proud of you! #wearewapello #WapelloTribePride
