Our next New Staff Spotlight is with Mr. Jacob Mace. Mr. Mace will join the Wapello High School Teaching Staff and will be teaching High School Social Studies when students return to the classroom on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Mr. Mace is a recent graduate of the University of Iowa and Wapello High School will be his first teaching job! Mr. Mace's family includes his parents and two younger sisters. In his spare time, Mr. Mace likes to try out new recipes while cooking in his kitchen! Congratulations Mr. Mace on your new job here at the Wapello Community School District. Here is a message for any students wanting to play 5/6 grade football through YSF this fall. All 5th and 6th grade students who are interested in playing YSF tackle football this fall, Please contact Kenny Marlette or Coach Todd Parsons to get signed up. New Staff Spotlight! We would like to welcome to the Wapello Community School District Staff, Mr. Mike Simpson. Mr. Simpson will be teaching HS English starting this fall. Mr. Simpson's family includes his wife Terra, and their two children Izzy (15) and Maya (13). Mr. Simpson has been in education for the past 12 years, he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Creative Writing and Psychology from Purdue University. In his spare time, Mr. Simpson likes to spend time with his family and their dog, he also enjoys woodworking and doing projects around their home. If you run into problems along the way, please reach out to the Wapello Elementary Office (319)523-5571, the Wapello JR/SR High Office (319)523-3241, or the Central Administration Office (319)523-3641 for assistance. We know that parents are ready to begin the Registration Process for the 21-22 school year. Unfortunately, Power School is undergoing maintenance today and Friday. We plan to open up the online registration for students on Monday, August 9, at 9:00 a.m. At that time E-Registration will be active inside of your Power School parent account. On Tuesday, August 10, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. there will be staff available to help anyone that needs a device or assistance in registering your student for school using the E-Registration process. Staff will be available at both the Wapello Elementary and Wapello Jr/Sr High Offices. We are excited to start the 21-22 school year, and we appreciate your patience as we navigate the final details to launch the online registration process on Monday, August 9, at 9:00 a.m. #WeAreWapello #WapelloTribePride

Today is the day! Preseason Meeting: Parents and athletes headed into 7-12 grade are invited to attend an informational meeting Tuesday, Aug. 3rd in the High School Auditorium . Please choose one of the times (you don’t need to attend all of them) between 9:00, 1:30 or 6:00. Hear from Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center (formerly Great River Health Systems), learn what paperwork will be needed. This is for everyone planning to compete this year…whether in the fall, winter, spring, summer or all four seasons! Also, athletes in 9-12 who did not have a baseline concussion test last fall can do that Tuesday between 2:00 and 6:00 (library). If you can’t remember if you were tested last year, contact Michelle Wade at michelle.wade@wapellocsd.org.
