PK-12 Parents and Students in Wapello CSD, the following information is coming as the result of recent aerosol study done at a National Level and with the NFHS (National Federation of High School Sports and the College Band Directors Association. The study concluded that while Singing and Playing Instruments, the risk of aerosol spread of COVID-19 is increased compared to normal speaking. Music class is not all singing, but when we do sing, we will use our masks/face shields, K-12. I know this is not easy and we will all approach it as positively as possible.
As a result, the following is for all levels of the Performing Arts PK-12:
Masks will be required while Singing, Playing instruments while indoors.
Masks will be provided, or you can provide your own.
They will only be required while singing, playing, performing.
If you have any questions, please contact the Superintendent, the Building Principals, or the Music Department.
Thanks for helping to keep our staff and students safe during these difficult times.
