Wapello Pro Rodeo Postponed to 2021 In the interest of public health and safety, the 2020 Wapello Pro Rodeo is postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. This decision has been incredibly difficult for the committee, but we know it is the right one. The health and safety of our fans, volunteers, contestants, first responders, healthcare workers, and everyone in our community is the only thing that matters right now. The only responsible decision was to put their safety first. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We’re now shifting our focus to planning for the 13th Wapello Pro Rodeo in 2021. The 2021 Wapello Pro Rodeo will be the 40th anniversary of the Wapello FFA hosting a rodeo. In the meantime, the Wapello FFA will be doing all we can to help our fans and our community stay healthy and remain positive as we all navigate through this difficult time. We look forward to bringing back quality family entertainment to Wapello, surrounding communities, and Southeast Iowa next year.

Prom Update. Bare with me... With MUCH consideration and conversation with myself, Mr. Peterson, Mr. Bohlen, Ms. Wade, and the Post-Prom committee, we have decided to go ahead with a prom for our students. We want the kids to have this moment. They deserve this moment. With that being said... Prom will be held at Harvest View Farms in Sperry. Prom will go from 6pm-11pm. ( this may seem like a long time but food will be provided and games will be set up with post prom so we want to give the kids enough time for all of the activities and pictures with Jaime) The capacity at Harvest View Farms is 160 people at 50%. We will follow social distancing guidelines. There will be indoor outdoor seating available to help with those guidelines. We will also follow the regulations that softball and baseball have to follow with taking temperatures of the kids as they come to the venue. IF you have a temperature, you will NOT be allowed in. We will have sanitizer available and also, we are not requiring masks but recommend them if you feel that you would like to wear one. Grand March into the venue WILL (or is planned to be) live streamed. We have also decided to do a cruise night type grand march (More will come for that in a different post of how it will work) for those that do not have internet capabilities. The plan is to have students out on 2nd street downtown from 4-5pm (weather permitting) for everyone to see. Then they will head to Harvest View Farms, from their prom experience. Prom and grand march are for STUDENTS only. We ask that no parents or others come (other than sponsors/chaperones) to the venue as we are trying to follow guidelines and social distancing. Jaime will be set up with photos to purchase. We will get those forms out to you very soon. We also will have food provided at the venue and post prom will also be set up with some games and prizes for kids to enjoy while at prom and to also help with the social distancing. STUDENTS that are juniors and seniors; PLEASE try your best to follow social distancing. Also I will be sending out google forms for you to tell me who your date will be and for King and Queen Vote. We will not be having waiters and waitresses this year, No little king and queen and no ushers in order to keep up on social distancing to the best of our abilities. I may have forgotten some details but I will put out more as I think of them. This is for the kids and we want them to have fun. With all of the money spent, and how this year has gone, its the least we can do. If you are not comfortable with your child attending prom, please know they are not required to attend. We will understand fully. Thank you. Brittani Beeding

Baseball: What to know for tonight’s 5PM opening practice. When you come to practice today, enter through the right field corner, do not enter any dugout, the locker room is off limits, and bring water for yourself. Please stay 6 feet away from anyone else and put your gear along the fence, at least 6 feet apart. We will begin screenings at 4:40, it would be good to be early. But please remain in your car until we are set up to take players in. We will be going over all protocols and expectations with players tonight to begin practice. If you have a sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, close contact with someone who has tested positive, or fever... do NOT come to practice. And please contact Coach Brown at 563-506-2341. We will be checking temps at the field and asking these questions of each player as well. Together we can make this season a success, please be patient as we will try to make things as smooth as possible.

Look at This
Today would have been our last day of school for students. Our 5th graders missed out on a couple of big events this year, the 5th grade track meet, and getting to run out of the building one last time as Graduates of Wapello Elementary. We will recognize our 5th grade graduates today, we send our congratulations and best wishes as you move to Junior High in the fall. Congratulations! #WeAreWapello #WapelloTribePride
