#WeAreWapello #WapelloTribePride

Our second Senior Shoutout for Thursday is to Lily Williams. Lily is the daughter of Johnnie Williams and Sheri Crawford. While in high school Lily has been a member of the NHS for two years, and participated in Speech for one. Lily's future plan is to take a gap year as "I wait to see where God leads me". We asked Lily to name a teacher/staff member who had an impact on her life while in school. Lily said this was Ms. Jane Bostian because, "[she] isn't just a teacher. She's a friend. She's willing to always listen, and she dishes out advice when needed. Ms. Bostian also goes out of her way to help others even when it doesn't benefit her. She's helped me with an abundant amount of papers and speeches over the years (and she's helped others who aren't even in her class). She's been there for me since sophomore year, and she's the type of teacher who just doesn't give up on her students. She's never given up on me, and I'm thankful for her." When asked her advice for underclassmen, Lily said "Live for Jesus Christ and Him alone because He's the way, the truth, and the life." Congratulations and best wishes to Lily on her graduation from WHS with the class of 2020. #WeAreWapello #WapelloTribePride #classof2020

Micah has been very involved in activities while in high school; including one year on the Golf team, two years in Track, Softball, Choir, NHS, and Student Council. For four years, she was also on the Volleyball team. Micah's future plans include attending Indian Hills Community College to study radiological technology, then transfer to the University of Iowa to specialize in ultrasound and sonography. As we did before, we asked Micah to name a teacher/staff member who had an impact on their lives while in school. She named Mr. & Mrs. Brandon and Megan Brown for this because, "[they] always there for me academically and personally." When asked her advice for underclassmen, Micah said "Cherish every moment, it truly goes by so fast." When we asked Blake which staff members has had the greatest impact on him during his high shool tenure he said Ms. Bostian, Mrs. Moulton, and Mr. & Mrs. Peck. This is because "I honestly can't decide between the four of them, and it wouldn't feel right to leave three of them out. They have all helped me in all different ways become the person I am today, and I can't tell them thank you enough. Every single one of them have spent countless hours of their freetime with me practicing, teaching me, or even just hanging out. I know I don't say it enough, but thank you all for helping me on my path to a new beginning, and I cant wait for you all to see where I go in the future!" Blake's advice to underclassmen is "Do all of your work to the best of your ability, have a ton of fun, but not to much 😉, and remember to keep making memories while you still can because you never know when you will walk down the halls of your high school for the last time." Congratulations and best wishes to Blake on his graduation from WHS with the class of 2020 #WeAreWapello #WapelloTribePride #classof2020

April 28, 2020 Update:
Happy Tuesday, everyone!
No new school announcements from the governor today. She did confirm that she is lifting the ban on in-person worship services throughout the entire state. Yesterday, there was some confusion about this question, so I was glad she clarified things today.
Yesterday, we sent out information for parents about picking up their student's supplies and belongings. Be sure to contact the elementary if you have questions or concerns.
And now, we are going to have today's guidance provided in Ubbi Dubbi. Yes, that is an actual language, according to Google.

April 27, 2020 update (continued):
***Principal Nagle has put together a plan for elementary students to get their belongings. Classroom teachers will be bagging up individual student's belongings. Families will then be assigned a time span to come pick up the belongings. Pickup will be Monday, May 4th. Parents will pull in to the bus lane, entering from the west. Someone will go get the pre-packed items and bring them to you. There is no completely smooth way to get this done, so thank you, in advance, for your patience with this. If your last names starts with A-D, your time is 8:00-8:45. E-K will be 8:45-9:30. L-P will be 9:30-10:15. Q-S will be 10:15-10:45. T-Z will be 11:45-12:30. If these times do not work for you, please contact the elementary school to make alternate arrangements.
***A pickup schedule for the secondary building will be coming in the next couple days.

April 27, 2020 Update:
***Governor Reynolds has taken steps to start "opening up" portions of the state. However, Louisa County is not one of those areas. As of now, the restrictions for Louisa County and other areas with high case numbers remain in place. She did say that May 15 would, hopefully, see another round of openings. An exception to this is worship services. Churches are now able to have worship services, regardless of county, provided social distancing guidelines are still followed.
***Remember that breakfast and lunch pickups are Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:00 each day. This is available for anyone aged 0-19, even if you don't go to school in Wapello.
***Wash your hands.
Cover your cough.
Wash your hands.
Stay home. Stay home. Stay home.
Wash your hands.
If you absolutely must go somewhere, practice social distancing.
Wash your hands.
