“Do your English!” - these are the words of wisdom Kaydee Wykert would pass down to the underclassmen at WHS. Instead of doing her English - Kaydee has been busy as a two year member of track, drama, and student council. Kaydee is also very involved in wrestling cheer, band, and choir as a four year member in those groups. Kaydee has also spent a lot of her time with Ms. Eakins (or Kel Kel as Kaydee calls her) in her office because “she’s the bestest.”
Another teacher Kaydee credits as having a profound impact on her education is Mr. Peck.
Kaydee Lee Wykert is the daughter of Andrew and Delores Wykert. In the fall, she plans to attend Kirkwood Community College to study culinary arts.
Kaydee leaves us with one final yearbook quote, “I don't always have time to study, but when I do, I still don't.”

“Go out and have fun while you're young because before you realize you're graduating high school and starting your life.” Words of wisdom from senior Tyler Palmer. The son of Levi and Kristi Palmer, Tyler was involved in football, basketball, track, baseball, golf, and choir while at WHS.
Tyler names Mr. Murray as his most influential teacher because he made him realize he loves history and for the longest time, Tyler wanted to be a history teacher like Mr. Murray. But now, Tyler plans to attend the University of Northern Iowa to study construction management.
Tyler feels he spent most of his time at WHS trying to find a way out of class. He leaves us with this quote: “High school was easy. It was like riding a bike. Except the bike was on fire and the ground was on fire and everything was on fire because it wasn’t easy."

We are nearing the school year's end, so it is time to sell the remaining stock inside the FFA Greenhouse! The FFA Greenhouse will be open two more days, May 10th from 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and May 11th from 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Prices have been reduced to move the remaining stock!

Talking to Ms. Bostian, especially when things weren’t going right, is how Jaelynn Wiley spent most of her time in high school. She was also involved in wrestling cheerleading and choir.
Jaelynn, the daughter of Stephanie and Shane Lathrop, plans to attend Indian Hills Community College to begin studying secondary education with an emphasis in English. She tells fellow students to do their work. Her quote for the yearbook would be, “Let’s go to prahhhhmmm!”

Mrs Ruth's class taking advantage of the beautiful weather and a good book!!
Torrie Lucille Walker, daughter of Kurt and Katie Walker, advises other students to, “Be involved and work hard. It pays off.” Torrie has been active during her days at WHS, participating in cross country, basketball, soccer while also being a member of the National Honor Society, student council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and FCA.
Torrie identifies Mrs. Marshall as the most influential staff member during high school because she is always so positive and supportive when helping Torrie. She has learned so much from Mrs. Marshall, including math and how to be a better person in general.
Torrie will miss complaining to Ms. Eakins about college classes, but is looking forward to attending Southeastern Community College before transferring to a 4 year university to major in biochemistry.
Torrie’s yearbook quote would be, “Hold on, let me overthink about it first.” We wish you the best, Torrie!

Senior, Austin Meeker lives his life by a very simple idea: “Ain’t no need to know where I’m going, just need to know where I been!” --Tow Mater
Austin is the son of Tanya and Billy Stanford and has been very involved in several activities at WHS. Austin participated in basketball, wrestling, and baseball for two years. He is a three and half member of the choir and four year participant in the golf team and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Austin says that Mr. Peck has been his most influential staff member because “He was a mentor to me and one of my favorite teachers of all time.” Next year, Austin plans to attend the University of Northern Iowa to become a history teacher at the secondary level.
We wish you well, Austin!
Mrs. Wykert's kindergarten highlights from last week: We delivered May baskets, watched our 3rd grade buddies perform a skit, had fun dressing up in our play centers, and spent some time learning outside looking for tricky words on the playground. 💙💛

Madelyn Lanz, the youngest daughter of Robby and Kris Lanz, advises the underclassmen to “always treat others the way you want to be treated.” Words that she has always tried to uphold throughout her high school years.
Madelyn, or Madge as she’s more commonly known, has been busy the last four years. Madge is a member of the band, volleyball, basketball, and track teams. She also holds leadership positions in the National Honor Society and student council. Outside of school, Madge is actively involved in her church and bible class.
After graduation, Madge plans to attend Southeastern Community College to earn her Associates of Arts degree and then transfer to a four year university to major in elementary education. Madge claims that Mrs. Marshall made the biggest impact on her and helped her decide to become a teacher. Madge says, “[Mrs. Marshall] has taught me to be kind and patient while also earning the respect of her students. She is the type of teacher that I plan to become.”
