Here is this week's What's Happening at Wapello. Lots of chances to come out and cheer on our students as they peak going towards the end of the fall sports seasons. Many of our activities are away from Wapello this week, but we hope you can come cheer them on!

On Friday, students in Mrs. Wykert's kindergarten class had a special visit from Harley's grandma Dawn and her pet skunk, Duke! We learned that Duke, although his scent glands have been removed, will still lift his tail to "spray" when he is feeling like he is in danger. We also learned that he is a nocturnal animal, he loves to eat cheese, and if he were in the wild he would hibernate. Since he is domesticated, he will not hibernate but he will still eat a lot in order to build up fat for the winter. Thank you Duke, Harley and Dawn!

On August 28th, these four Wapello Pom Squad members (Kenadee Helscher, Liby Shafer, Lizzy Maine, and Sandra Palma) auditioned for the All Iowa Honor Dance at State Basketball.
WHS Pom Coaches Jane Bostian and Melissa Maine would like to Congratulate Liby Shafer (Pre-Game) and Lizzy Maine (Pom) for being selected to perform during State Basketball the first weekend in March! CONGRATULATIONS, Ladies! We are so proud of you all!
