We have a new Paraeducator that we would like to welcome to the #WeAreWapello family! Jodi Parsons has joined the staff at Wapello Elementary as a Special Education Paraeducator. Jodi has a BA in Social Work and Religious Studies from Mount Mercy College (now University) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She has worked as a substitute ParaEducator for the past two years before making the switch and joining the staff full time for the 22-23 school year. Jodi's family includes her husband Adam and their four children Will, Elizabeth, Wes, and Abby. In her spare time, you can find Jodi spending time with her family, playing board games, reading, crocheting, sewing, camping, and hiking. We want to welcome Jodi to our team, we are excited to have you full time this year working with our students and staff! #WeAreWapello #WapelloTribePride

Please know, understand, and obey the laws, they are there to protect our most precious cargo, our students and the children of our community. We are excited to welcome Mrs. Delores Wykert back to the #WeAreWapello family! Mrs. Wykert is returning to Wapello Elementary where she will be teaching Kindergarten! Mrs. Wykert has spent 15 years working in the education field, she started out as a paraeducator at Morning Sun, then came to Wapello Elementary and Wapello Jr High before moving on to a teaching career that started out at Roundy Elementary in Columbus Junction as a Special Education Teacher. She is a graduate of William Penn University. Her family includes her husband Andy, and her children Hunter, Shelby (Blake) Odle, Bryar, and Kaydee. In her spare time, you will find Mrs. Wykert enjoying time with her family, boating on the river, and yard work. Although she will miss her Roundy family, she is so excited to be back "home" at Wapello! Welcome back, Mrs. Wykert, we are excited for what lies ahead for you this school year and we know that the students at Wapello Elementary will be excited to see a familiar face back in the hallways! Surplus Athletic Uniforms and Other Items… We will be selling surplus uniforms/equipment tonight from 6-7PM during “Back to School” night at the high school, in the cafeteria. Two more opportunities will be during the home football game on September 2nd (versus LM) and September 16 (homecoming versus Pekin). Items include boys and girls basketball uniforms from the mid 90s - early 2000s. Basketball shooting shirts, volleyball uniforms from the 90s-2000s, soccer apparel, golf bags, sports tumblers, and unsold tshirts. Everything will be priced extremely cheap!!! There will be no holds and early sales will not be possible.

Congratulations to our former FFA Advisor, Mr. Irv Meier. Mr. Meier was inducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame at the Iowa State Fair today. Mr. Meier’s history of working with students dates back a few decades, and even though he has retired from teaching full time, you can still find him working with students almost on a daily basis. He has produced many State Champion CDE Teams and continues to work with a 4-H group judging livestock. Congratulations, Mr. Meier on this achievement, you are certainly deserving of this honor. We are excited to welcome Mrs. Olivia Hyde to the #WeAreWapello family! Mrs. Hyde will join the staff at the Wapello Jr/Sr High and will be teaching Middle School English/Language Arts. Mrs. Hyde holds degrees from St. Ambrose University (BA In Journalism and Creative Writing) and Grand Canyon University (MA in Secondary Education in English). Her family includes her husband Tim, and their two cats, Leo and Feral. In her spare time, you can find Mrs. Hyde reading, playing guitar, playing video games, watching movies, and writing. Wapello High School would like to welcome Mr. Andrew Rompot to the #WeAreWapello family for the 2022-2023 school year. Mr. Rompot will be teaching High School Social Studies. He also will be coaching Junior High and High School Cross Country as well as Junior High Track. Mr. Rompot is a graduate of Iowa State University and comes to Wapello as a recent graduate, this will be Mr. Rompot's first teaching job, and we are excited add him to our staff. His family includes his high school sweetheart, Catie. In his spare time, you will find Mr. Rompot running, playing board games, watching the Packers/ISU, and reading, his favorite author is Stephen King. We are excited that Mr. Rompot chose to join the staff at Wapello High School and we are looking forward to the great things he will do with our students and athletes this school year.
