May 5, 2020 Update: You guys thought you were going to be able to avoid my update for a day, didn't you? Well, the jokes on you, because here we go... And after all of that lead-in, there isn't much new to report. If you weren't able to get to the buildings to pick up your child's belongings, you can still call the school and arrange a time. Also, remember to ask about the lost and found items. It is absolutely amazing how many clothes go missing from kids' closets over the course of a year. And what's up with single socks? How does someone lose one sock? It is truly a mystery. And no update would be complete without... Wash your hands. Cover your cough. Wash your hands. Stay home. 'Nuf said. Wash your hands. Practice social distancing. Wash your hands. #wearewapello #wapellotribepride

May 4, 2020 update: If you did not have a chance to pick up your child's belongings from the elementary school today, please call the school and make arrangements to pick them up. The secondary building is open for pickup tomorrow. High school students in the morning. Middle school parents in the afternoon. Now, we aren't going to make you come to the building twice to pick up things. If you have a high schooler and a middle schooler, you can pick up everything at once. When I was an English teacher, I would sometimes challenge my students to complete a piece of writing without using a certain letter of the alphabet. Some letters were easier than others. I asked Matthew to pick a letter of the alphabet at random. Of course, he picked the letter "E." So, here is my attempt to give today's guidelines without using the letter "E." Wash your hands. Cloak your cough. Wash your hands. Stay in your accommodations. Stay in your lodgings. Stay in your pad. Wash your hands. If you must go from your lodgings, apply social distancing. Wash your hands. Isolation does strange things to one's brain. #wearewapello #wapellotribepride

May 1, 2020 Update Happy 1st day of May. At least, I think it's the first day of May. Anyone else having trouble with days blurring together? We have plans for Graduation and Prom. Graduation is scheduled for June 28 with a 7:00pm start at the football field. If we are not allowed to gather on June 28, the alternate date will be July 11 at 10:00am at the football field. Rain locations for both days will be the high school. If we are still locked down in July, we will figure out some type of virtual event to honor our seniors. Prom is scheduled for June 20. If we aren't able to gather by then, we will work to put together some type of dance event later in the summer, potentially after graduation. Our hope is that this information will allow families to at least start to plan. Be sure to check previous updates for schedules to come and pick up your child's personal belongings. We are not collecting textbooks or computers. This is just a time for you to pick up your things. Remember that Louisa County is not one of those counties that is "opening up" today. Therefore... Wash your hands. Cover your cough. Wash your hands. Stay home. Stay home. Stay home. Wash your hands. If you must leave home, practice social distancing. Wash your hands. #wearewapello #wapellotribepride

Attention Seniors of 2020! We are getting rid of several of our rocks. We thought it would be cool to have you grab a rock from our yard, paint it at home, & Shaggy’s will use it for their new landscaping. I’ll leave paint markers near the rocks also, in case you just want to just sign your name on one, that’s fine too. Drop it off at Shaggy’s when we do the Cruise Night. Stop by our house anytime today or tomorrow! You’ll see the pile of rocks. Help yourself! #wearewapello #wapellotribepride
