We are in the final few days before the Christmas Break, but there are still opportunities to catch Wapello High School students doing what they do best. We have a music concert on Monday evening and on Tuesday, the Basketball Teams will be at home against Mediapolis and the Wrestlers will travel to Burlington Notre Dame for a Duals Tournament.

Many, many thanks to Wapello Police Department and Louisa County Sheriff Department personnel for their presence and assistance today. It's awesome to know that we can rely on you, even when social media creates chaos. Thanks for helping to keep everyone safe. We are very fortunate to have you!

Good afternoon. Out of an abundance of caution, and based on the recommendation of law enforcement, we are operating on a partial lockdown. This simply means that kids are staying within the building and will not be going outside for recess or other activities. Again, this is a purely precautionary measure.

Here are the Tribe Pride winners for the week of December 13: C. Allen, I. Blake, A. Brown, JJ Delzell, S. Hoag, K. Lanz, T. Tamez, and L. Yotter. Staff winner is Mrs. Barb Dunham. Congratulations!

Game Day!!!

Students in Mr. Mace’s Contemporary Problems class used peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to promote class discussions and debates.

Wapello Families and Staff,
Our school districts recently learned of an anonymous, nationwide threat against schools that is being shared on social media outlets such as TikTok. The general threat toward all U.S. schools declares Friday, Dec. 17, as “American School Shooting Day.” The posts warn about the possibility of nationwide shootings or bomb threats associated with this day.
We have partnered with local law enforcement to vigilantly investigate whether there are any local connections to these social media posts. At this time, law enforcement has not acquired any evidence that would deem these threats as credible in our area. Out of an abundance of caution, our schools will be in close contact with law enforcement throughout the day on Friday.
Please take this opportunity to talk with your students about the appropriate use of social media, and the seriousness and resulting consequences of making any kind of threat. Encourage your students to speak with you or an adult at school if they see or hear something so immediate action can be taken. In addition, if anyone in our community sees something suspicious, please report it to the school immediately or call local law enforcement.
We appreciate your support and partnership.
Thanks,
Mike
